Rich, pure cherries sprinkled with pie spice greet the nose. The first sips are rich with black cherries and raspberries, laced with spice and floral notes. Blossoms in the glass with a hint of blue fruits, mineral undertones and a tease of cocoa. Gains more nuance, depth and length as it breathes. Delicious now, though somewhat restrained by its recent travel and youth. Yes, you can drink it now and you might want to open a bottle to get a sense of its personality and promise – but, having enjoyed many vintages of this wine, I know the best is yet to come. The thrill of this wine is how fabulous it is with a couple (plus) years in bottle. That's when it defies the assumptions and expectations assigned to Givry. That's when it wows! That's when you know this Givry is exceptional.
