With a reputation built originally on its delicious home-made pastries, Tartine has become a full service French bistro albeit a rarity in that it serves no alcohol. Almost every night, and in all kinds of weather, a line of hungry wine schleppers forms outside this tiny corner store in the West Village, waiting for their turn to squeeze inside and sample Chef Thierry Rochard's bistro classics. We came to know Tartine well when Burgundy Wine Company was in our original store a few blocks away on West 11th.
Four of us enjoyed the following combinations on a recent visit:
Herbed Goat Cheese Croutons
2016 Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons, Senastien Dampt
Grilled Garlic Sausage on Warm Potatoes
2014 Pinot Blanc d'Alsace, Jean-Marc Bernhard
Sesame-Crusted Yellowfin Tuna Steak
2015 Meursault Vieilles Vignes, Sylvain Dussort

Bouchee a la Reine (Chicken Pot Pie- the house specialty)
2012 Beaune Premier Cru "Anniversaire", Louis Jadot

And finally two of Tartine's magnificent desserts:
Chocolate Hazelnut Dacquoise
Tarte Tatin a la Mode
All wines available at Burgundy Wine Company
Bon Appetit!
