Auxey-Duresses |
|
Auxey Duresses' production is about one-third white and two-thirds red. The best whites comes from vineyards bordering Meursault. The best reds, however, are north of the town on slopes bordering Monthelie. The fruit of a red Auxey-Duresses leans more towards spicy red cherries and often needs a few years to mature. The whites share the mineral, nutty character of Meursault, but are more austere when young. With 3 or 4 years aging, they round out and can be delicious values.
